Josh Beckett Creates Twitter Account on Day He’s Traded to Dodgers, Thanks Red Sox Fans

Adrian Gonzalez
, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto were pretty busy Saturday.

First, they were traded from the Red Sox to the Dodgers. Then they all hopped on a plane together to fly to Los Angeles. Later Saturday night, Gonzalez popped a three-run homer in his first at-bat in Dodger blue (see video of that below).

Sometime during all that hubbub, Beckett also found a minute to open a Twitter account — expressly for the reason of thanking the Red Sox fans he was leaving behind.

Beckett greeted the Twitter world just after noon Saturday, announcing he had joined to give a shout-out to Red Sox supporters.

He also referenced some of the hiccups he had in his time in Boston.

Gonzalez welcomed Beckett via Twitter, too, just in case anyone doubted that the real No. 19 wasn't behind the new egg avatar claiming to be Beckett.

Beckett's account had about 14,300 followers as of Sunday morning. Hey Josh — time to get rid of the egg, OK?

Quote of the Day

"I think we recognize that we are not who we want to be right now. We needed to make more than cosmetic changes, so as we look forward to this offseason … [it] required more of a bold move to give us an opportunity to really re-shape the roster, reshape the team."
