Justin Durant Tweets About Chick-fil-A, Leading to Backlash Regarding Chain’s Ongoing Controversy

The whole Chick-fil-A controversy has people on edge. Justin Durant learned that the hard way.

The Lions linebacker tweeted about Chick-fil-A this past week, which drew plenty of responses from his followers. Durant eventually made it clear that he couldn’t quite wrap his head around why people were boycotting the fast-food chain.

Obviously, the boycotts across the country have come in the wake of Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy speaking out against same-sex marriage. But Durant couldn’t understand why Cathy’s opinion is keeping people from enjoying the simple pleasures of the restaurant.

Durant mentioned throughout his tweets that he couldn’t believe the backlash he was receiving for joking about Chick-fil-A, especially since he never said he agreed with Cathy or anything. The linebacker was instead joking about the chicken, and all hell broke loose, which is something he summed up in later tweets.

Clearly, Durant is just trying to have fun, even saying that chicken’s too tasty for him to boycott, even if the owner came out and said slavery was a good idea. That, of course, didn’t happen, but it obviously shows Durant never really meant to turn this into a political thing.

Then again, he should’ve known how Twitter works these days. Perhaps he now knows, as his most recent tweet as of Saturday morning said, “explosive.”
