Lionel Messi Makes Soccer Fan’s Decision to Run Onto Field Worthwhile (Video)

Lionel Messi could have ran away when he was approached by a fan who ran onto the field. Instead, the Argentine soccer star made the man’s day.

When fans interrupt play by running onto the field during games, the cameraman (or woman) often pans away from the scene in order to discourage that sort of behavior. That wasn’t the case in Wednesday’s contest between Germany and Argentina.

In a wide-angle shot, we were able to watch the man as he headed for the center circle (where Messi was standing). The referee said something to him, but the fan had not yet been booked and brushed off his advice.

As the man held up his hands, Messi duly obliged in making his day. The three-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner even chuckled as the fan then ran toward the security and escorted himself off the field.

He will probably be at the mercy of the justice system in Frankfurt, Germany. It is anyone’s guess whether or not Messi will testify in the man’s defense.
