Marwin Gonzalez Launches Himself Into Air, Sprains Ankle While Tripping Over First Base (Video)

Marwin Gonzalez was simply trying to show off some hustle
in Thursday’s game against the Giants. Considering the Astros have the worst
record in the league, it was admirable that he attempted to beat out a ground ball.

The only problem was his form. As Gonzalez made one last
charge into first base — with Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval trying to
throw him out — the shortstop’s left foot bent and launched him into the air.

Unfortunately for Gonzalez, he suffered a
sprained left ankle in the sequence. But the injury doesn’t seem to be too serious and
Gonzalez is listed as day-to-day.
