The NFL season will begin in less than a week when NFC East rivals New York and Dallas square off in primetime in front of a national TV audience.

The return of football will be enough to satisfy the appetite of pigskin fans everywhere, but a little trash talk is helping to stoke the fire.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones fired the first salvo when he said this:

Fair enough. Of course, the defending Super Bowl champions probably weren't going to let that one go.

Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka confirmed that on Thursday morning during a radio appearance on WFAN in New York.

"He should. I mean, the Giants have been whupping his ass for a long time," Kiwanuka said, according to the Star-Ledger.

"It's gotta be tough on the outside looking in on all of these championships lately," Kiwanuka added. "That's the feeling I feel like everybody in the league has and everybody should have because we're here on top and everybody should be wanting to knock you off."

The two teams open the season Wednesday night in the Meadowlands.
