Danny Valencia didn't have very far to travel to get to his new team.
The former Twins third baseman is now a member of the Red Sox organization after being traded for outfielder Jeremias Pineda, according to a Red Sox news release.
Valencia, a career .260 hitter in parts of three seasons with the Twins, was optioned to Triple-A following the transaction. He is hitting .198 on the season with two homers and 17 RBIs in 34 games.
Pineda has hit a league-leading .421 with 22 RBIs, 20 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 36 games for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox, a rookie-level squad.
