Report: Derek Lowe Would Love Red Sox Reunion, Just Needs a 'Tune-Up'Many Red Sox fans’ minds probably began to wander upon hearing that Derek Lowe had been designated for assignment by the Indians.

While it’s unclear if Boston is interested in bringing back the 39-year-old, who played with the club from 1997-2004, Lowe certainly seems open to the idea.

According to The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo, Lowe said he just needs a “tune-up” with his personal trainer and that he’d love a Red Sox reunion.

Lowe had a strong start to the season in Cleveland, but he’s struggled mightily of late. After going 6-1 with a 2.05 ERA to begin the year, the right-hander is now 8-10 with a 5.52 ERA.

Lowe’s highs outweighed his lows in Boston, as the tall righty saved 42 games in 2000, won 21 games in 2002, and won all three postseason series-clinching games during the Red Sox’ World Series run in 2004.

With the Red Sox rotation experiencing some struggles, we’ll see if they decide to roll the dice on a familiar face.
