For now, Chad Johnson is still a fringe sports figure. Because of that, the seemingly trivial details of his personal life are still at least somewhat relevant.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Johnson's wife, Evelyn Lozada, has reportedly filed for divorce from Johnson. According to TMZ.com, Lozada filed the legal documents for the divorce on Tuesday afternoon.
The couple had only been married six weeks after tying the knot on July 4.
Johnson was arrested over the weekend in a domestic dispute after allegedly head-butting Lozada after she found a receipt for a box of condoms.
That arrest no doubt played a part in Johnson's release from the Miami Dolphins over the weekend. Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said that multiple factors — not just the arrest — factored into the decision. Philbin mentioned that the relationship didn't appear to be working out.
Johnson, playing as Chad Ochocinco, struggled mightily last season with the Patriots. His issues with learning the system were well-documented, and as a result, Johnson caught just 15 passes.
