Tim Thomas decided that he was going to sit out the 2012-13 NHL season before the 2011-12 season had even concluded. But even with his lack of desire to play, it appears some teams will still be interested in acquiring the All-Star netminder.
Thomas still has a lot of value on the open market and could be valuable even if he doesn't play, as having him on the roster does come with a $5 million salary cap number which teams can write off if he doesn't play.
