Derek Jeter is not going to miss the rest of the Yankees season, and he’s still, as far as we all know, a man.
The Yankees’ Facebook page, however, indicated otherwise on Thursday afternoon. Deadspin points out that the club’s Facebook page was hacked and some jokester decided to inform almost 6 million Bombers fans that the shortstop would miss the rest of the season — because of a sex change.
“We regret to inform our fans that Derek Jeter will miss the rest of the season with sexual reassignment surgery,” the post read. “He promises to come back stronger than ever in 2013 as Minnie Mantlez.”
The post has been deleted, but luckily Ebaum’s World caught it just in time. See it below.
It appears other teams have suffered the wrath of hackers as well. The Cubs posted an anti-Bill Murray message on their page, while the White Sox announced they would be voting Mitt Romney for president instead of noted ChiSox fan Barack Obama. The Padres page displayed a post encouraging handicapped fans to not attend games, the Marlins promised to give away 10,000 rescued pit bulls at their next game and the Nationals pledged to move back to Montreal. The Giants also weighed in on the Chick-fil-A controversy in colorful fashion.
The Cubs have since posted an apology on their official Twitter feed following the hack.
