Antonio Cromartie said earlier this year that he's the second-best receiver on the Jets. He's even more confident in his defensive ability, and insists he's the second-best cornerback in the NFL.
Darrelle Revis is widely considered the best cornerback in the league, but now that he's expected to miss the rest of the season, there's a few corners who could stake claim to the title. Cromartie feels it's no contest, though.
Cromartie said Thursday that he's the best cornerback in the NFL right now, according to the New York Daily News.
"None," Cromartie reportedly said when asked how many cornerbacks — besides his teammate Revis — are better than him. Even Philadelphia's Nnamdi Asomugah is no match in Cromartie's mind.
"I have said that I'm the second-best corner in the NFL," he reportedly said. "I'm not backing off what I said. I don't care what anyone else believe⦠I know what I'm capable of when I'm at the top of my game."
Cromartie will be relied upon now more than ever, as Revis' injury could be enough to send the Jets' defense into a tailspin.
