Brazilian Goalkeeper Neneca Kicks Opponent in Face, Surprised at Red Card (Video)Neneca has ensured that soccer action from Brazil’s second division stays in the forefront of our minds.

The America Mineiro goalkeeper was sent off from Wednesday’s game against Bragantino for delivering a brutal kung-fu style kick to the face of an opposing striker.

Goalkeepers around the world are taught to “own” their penalty area using their physical presence, but Neneca took things way too far early in the second half.

With Bragantino striker Diego Barboza racing behind the defense onto a pass, Neneca raced off his line, jumped with his leg out and flattened the striker. The kick left the referee with no choice but to show Neneca a red card, despite the protests of the goalkeeper and his teammates.

Bragantino scored on the ensuing penalty. Later, Barboza netted his team’s second goal for good measure, as it cruised to a 2-0 victory.
