Chipper Jones, Phillies Catcher Eric Kratz Combine for Massive Collision at Home Plate (Video)

Home plate collisions are that one part of baseball that gives credence to what it takes to play the sport, with players' toughness on the line as the runner hurtles toward the catcher as he digs into the dirt and waits for the throw.

Baseball had one of its biggest batter's box showdowns earlier this week when Yadier Molina somehow emerged unscathed after a serious run-in.

The Phillies' Eric Kratz did one better Friday night, rising to his feet to take a throw as the Braves' Chipper Jones came barreling in. Kratz and Jones smashed into each other standing up, with Kratz somehow hanging onto the ball to preserve the lead.

As dust-ups go, this one is unusual, considering Kratz didn't have time to work himself into a catcher's stance and brace for Jones.
