Chipper Jones Receives Rod, Reel and Fishing Gear After Owning Marlins Throughout CareerChipper Jones has feasted on the Marlins throughout his
career.

Through 244 games against the club, the Braves third
baseman unloaded 40 home runs, 165 RBIs while hitting .299. He's notched the
most games, blasts and RBIs against the Marlins than any other player.

So it was only fitting the Marlins gave Jones a rod, a
reel and fishing gear
as a parting gift for his retirement tour.
The send-off also included a video tribute and a gift presentation from Jeff
Conine
and shortstop Jose Reyes.

Jones was also Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen's teammate
back in 1998 and 1999. Having watched the third baseman's evolution firsthand,
Guillen credits Jones' success to his strong upbringing.

"He grew up with the right people around him,"
Guillen told reporters. "He grew up with tremendous management around him.
He grew up a winner all his life. That's very important. I think Chipper spent
more time in the playoffs than any position player.

"Chipper played every day in his career for
a reason. And now he gives the kids what they gave him, teaching respect,
teaching how to play the game, how to be professional. Not too many people do
that."
