Many Red Sox fans were probably pleased to see Daniel Bard back on the hill Friday night even as the team absorbed one of its worst losses.
Bard ended up yielding one run on a solo home run and may not have been quite as sharp as he would have liked. Overall, though, it was a successful inning for Bard, who was just looking to get his feet wet in his first major league action since June 3.
Bard's control issues didn't exactly disappear during his time with Pawtucket, but Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo had other worries before Saturday's contest — lower-than-expected velocity.
