The second weekend of college football took a scary turn Saturday afternoon when Tulane safety Devon Walker was seriously injured in a game at Tulsa.
Walker was coming in for a tackle during the final play of the first half when he collided, helmet-to-helmet, with one of his teammates. Walker immediately fell limp, and Tulsa and Tulane players called to the sideline for help.
Walker was reportedly not breathing or responding as medical staff tried to remove his shoulder pads, according to FOX. He was given CPR and began breathing again before being taken away in an ambulance to a local hospital.
Later reports indicated that Walker broke his neck and had a collapsed lung. He was taken to a local emergency and trauma center and given an emergency tracheotomy.
His brother, Raymond Walker, told ESPN "We haven't heard much at all. We're still kind of in the dark right now."
