The Red Sox are in a bad, bad way right now, but it's not because of anything Dustin Pedroia is doing.
The second baseman has been one of the only bright spots for a team that enters Tuesday's game in Seattle in the midst of a seven-game losing streak. Pedroia is working on a streak of his own, but it's of a much better variety than the club's skid.
With Pedroia's double in the first inning on Monday against the Mariners — the 1,000th hit of his career — Pedroia extended his hitting streak to 14 games. He's hitting .386 over that stretch, and he's hitting at a .385 clip since Aug. 6 when his average dropped to .262 for the season. Over those 28 games, Pedroia has hits in 27 of them. Yet, the Red Sox have gone 8-19 over that stretch.
He enters play on Tuesday hitting .290 for the season.
