Americans looked for solace in the days following the horrific events of Sept. 11, 2001. It finally got them when sports returned a week after the deadly attacks, and fans were greeted by longtime Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck.

The legendary figure summed up everyone's thoughts and feelings with a memorable poem upon the national pastime's return.
