Brandon Weeden will always remember his first career NFL start, but not for good reasons.

The 28-year-old rookie quarterback had a rough debut for the Browns, completing a little more than a third of his passes in a Cleveland loss to the Eagles.

Weeden completed just 12 of 35 passes for 118 yards with a whopping four interceptions in the 19-16 defeat. If Weeden had been even just a little bit better, the Browns might have been able to pull off the biggest upset of the weekend.

However, that wasn’t in the cards for Weeden who was awful in his first taste of the NFL. The rookie actually got a taste of the big time before the game even began when he was the “victim” of an unfortunate flag mishap. Weeden ended up caught underneath a giant American flag that was on the field for pregame ceremonies.

You could look at the incident and say that maybe it played a role in Weeden’s struggles. Perhaps it shook the rook a little bit. You may be wrong in that assumption, however. Weeden, who is an American, appears to love America. If you don’t believe it, please refer to the photo below for evidence that he does.

See? He loves America. If you glanced quickly at this picture, you would think that he was covered under an American flag already.

So we’ll just go ahead and say the horrific debut was nothing more than a rookie quarterback struggling to get accustomed to the NFL.
