Radamel Falcao Downplays 'Pichici' Race With Lionel Messi and Cristiano RonaldoAtletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao is more focused on helping his team than on his goal-scoring race against Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo (to wing the "Pichichi" award in La Liga).

After scoring two goals against Betis on Wednesday, the Colombian star has now accumulated seven goals in five league games this season, surpassing Messi's six.

"I didn't say I wanted to compete with Cristiano and Messi," Falcao said. "I simply want to score goals to help my team, nothing more. At the end, we'll see where I am. The most important thing is that the team reaches its objectives. We are competing with 19 other teams, not only against Madrid and Barca."

The Colombian international has had a terrific start of the season, which began with a first half hat-trick in the UEFA Super Cup game against Chelsea. Atletico won 4-1 to take its first silverware of the season.

Precisely, Atletico is also enjoying its best league start in years. It is undefeated after five games and is in second place in La Liga — only behind Barcelona.

Falcao came out during the game against Betis slightly injured and it is uncertain whether he will be able to play against Espanyol this weekend.
