Red Sox, Yankees to Open 2013 Season in New York, With Fenway Park's First Game April 8 Against OriolesThe Red Sox are wrapping up the 2012 season with several chances to alter the playoff race and especially the fates of their neighbors in the American League East.

Next season, they'll be right back in the thick of it from Opening Day — but by then, they'll be starting from a clean slate and working toward their own postseason hopes.

The Red Sox start the 2013 season against the Yankees in New York on April 1 then return to Fenway Park on April 8 to face Baltimore, according to the Red Sox and Major League Baseball, which released the 2013 schedule Wednesday afternoon.

Boston will also get an early crack at the American League's newest member, with the Houston Astros switching leagues and playing the Sox on April 25-28.

In interleague play, the Red Sox will face the Phillies, Rockies, Padres and Diamondbacks, with the National League contests making up 20 games in the Sox' schedule.
