If the newest rumors are true, it took fill-in tight end Kellen Winslow just a few days to see that he wanted no part with the Patriot Way.
Winslow was released by the team Thursday in what was originally reported as a mutual agreement, with Winslow reportedly saying his oft-injured knees were bothering him too much and the Patriots agreeing to let him go.
But now profootballtalk.com reports that Winslow wanted out of New England because he wasn't getting enough playing time.
Winslow had just one catch for 12 yards in the Patriots' loss to the Ravens on Sunday night, when he suited up despite being with the team for less than a week. He was signed by New England after the Patriots lost tight end Aaron Hernandez to a high ankle sprain for several weeks.
Winslow appeared to be fitting into the Patriots' system well, picking up plays quickly while the team regrouped. But it now seems that something was amiss, leading Winslow to leave the team just as quickly as he arrived.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Friday that Winslow was released for "personal reasons," a familiar euphemism if not the usual "he wasn't a good fit" that Belichick gives when talking about players who do not buy into the ethos of the Patriots' often-shuffling personnel movements.
