The Red Sox have clearly not lived up to their lofty expectations this season. But while the wheels continue to fall off on the failed campaign, Red Sox chairman Tom Werner remains optimistic.
Boston recently traded away three of the team’s biggest stars in order to make more of a youth movement and allow for some serious salary cap flexibility, entering the upcoming offseason. But Werner sees the move as more of a changing of the guard, indicating that the front office is looking to get the Red Sox back into contention.
Werner joined NESN’s Tom Caron and Peter Gammons on the set of Red Sox First Pitch on Friday, discussing the team’s future plans and his outlook for the team moving forward.
