The Patriots Hall of Fame just got three more rings added to it.
Troy Brown is the first in a group of players from all three Patriots Super Bowl championship teams to be voted into the team's Hall of Fame. Brown earned entry into the Patriots' Hall today during a ceremony that included former teammates Drew Bledsoe, Kevin Faulk, Ty Law, Tedy Bruschi and Scott Zolak.
Robert Kraft welcomed Brown to the stage saying, "Troy Brown didn't adhere to the Patriots way, he defined it."
Brown was an integral part to the first three Patriots championship teams. Brown excelled in 2001 when he was the Patriots leading receiver with 101 receptions for 1,199 yards and five touchdowns. Brown had become more of a role player by 2004, even playing cornerback in a pinch after an injury to Law.
Brown may be the first player with three Patriots' rings to be enshrined, but he certainly won't be the last.
Next year, Bruschi and Willie McGinest will become eligible for the honor. There is a five year wait after retirement before eligibility. Law will come next in 2014, Mike Vrabel will be eligible in 2015 and, as long as Faulk stays retired, he and Matt Light will become eligible in 2016.
All six of those players are franchise legends and keys to the success of the Patriots' early 2000s dynasty. Law lead that group with five Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro selections.
Of course, the only current Patriots player who was on all three Super Bowl winning teams is Tom Brady. Brady says he wants to play into his forties, so let's hope he won't be eligible for the Patriots' Hall for another 10-plus years.
