New York Yankees broadcaster John Sterling had a close encounter with a foul ball during Monday night's game between the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.
Robinson Cano fouled a ball off in the fifth inning,
and Sterling could be heard calling the play until he suddenly went
silent and a clunking sound came over the air. Sterling and his fellow
broadcaster, Suzyn Waldman, quickly recovered, but Sterling did have to
pick his microphone up off the floor of the booth.
The Yankees lost the game 4-3, and their lead in the American League East continues to dwindle, but Sterling was able to go home without any bumps or bruises. Check out the near-mishap in the video below.
