The NBA is sick of flopping and it’s going to start coming down hard on those who display the cowardly act.
According to Howard Beck of The New York Times, the NBA will begin fining players who flop this season, starting at $5,000 for second-time floppers. First-time floppers get off with a warning.
A third flop will cost players $10,000, and the grand slam flop will run them $15,000. A fifth flop leads to a hefty $30,000 fine before, according to John Schuhmann, a player will face “an even bigger fine” or possibly a suspension.
Robert Raiola reports via Twitter that these flop fines are tax deductable, meaning a $10,000 fine will end up costing players just $6,500.
