It’s not even November, but San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh already has turkey on his mind.
The outspoken leader of the NFC West leaders had some interesting things to say about the psyche of his quarterback, Alex Smith, following his team’s 24-3 win over division rival Arizona on Monday night in the desert.
Harbaugh was asked whether he thought Smith’s confidence had been restored after a strong performance on Monday night.
“I don’t think there was ever a question there,” the coach responded in his postgame news conference. “I think it was a lot of gobble, gobble turkey.”
“What is gobble, gobble turkey?” the astute reporter asked in a hard-hitting follow-up question.
“Just gobble, gobble, gobble turkey from jive-turkey gobblers, ya know? I think that paints a pretty good picture of it. He’s a very confident guy.”
