Over the weekend, the NHL and the Player's Association met for impromptu discussions which were aimed largely at creating some common ground to move forward from.
Well, we have no idea if that worked. It's been announced that the league and the NHLPA are scheduled to hold more formal negotiations this week, but that "major economic issues" won't be part of those talks. That means if there's no collective bargaining agreement by early next week, look for the next block of games to be cancelled, according to former NHLPA director Paul Kelly.
