The Major League Baseball hot stove has been lit.
On Tueday it was reported that the Angels were looking into trading starting pitchers Ervin Santana and Dan Haren. Although neither pitcher was expected to return to the club due to financial constraints, and since Los Angeles holds options on both players, the team was looking to get a return on them via a trade before their hand was forced.
Well, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Santana is already out the door, apparently having been traded to the Kansas City Royals. At the time of Rosenthal's tweet (seen below), the return on Santana wasn't yet known, but a few minutes later the Royals announced that they had sent over 27-year-old left-handed Triple-A reliever Brandon Sisk and cash.
