Report: NHLPA Asked to Meet With NHL Officials on Wednesday, But League Rejected Request

Report: NHLPA Asked to Meet With NHL Officials on Wednesday, But League Rejected RequestAs the NHL labor dispute continues to unfold, the players have made the most recent move to try and sort out their differences with the owners.

According to multiple reports, the NHLPA requested a meeting with the NHL on Wednesday — in fact, the players asked to meet any day this week. But, as Darren Dreger of TSN reported, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly quickly denied the offer, saying, "There's no reason to meet."

The players and owners have not met since last Thursday, when the NHL rejected all three proposals from the NHLPA. The NHL would prefer to negotiate more on the terms of the 50 percent hockey-related revenue split offer they presented the players last Tuesday, but the players weren't to happy with that proposal.

Until the two sides can find some common ground, fans will have to continue to watch the players and league beat their chests at one another.
