Robber Yells ‘Go Cards!’ After Holding Up Missouri Bank, Appears to Pay Homage to St. Louis Pitchers With Beard

Folks all around St. Louis have baseball playoffs on their minds — including, apparently, those doing a good old stick-’em-up.

A bearded man held up the First Bank branch in Arnold, a city south of St. Louis, around 1:15 p.m. Friday, according to St. Louis Today. While most of the holdup was standard fare — the thief handed the teller a note demanding cash and walked off with the money — he did add a little sports intrigue to his crime.

The robber yelled “Go Cards!” on his way out of the bank, according to the FBI.

No one was hurt, and the robber didn’t have a weapon, but police are asking for leads to catch the thief, who hasn’t exactly singled himself out by rooting for the ever-popular hometown Cardinals. St. Louis has a 3-2 lead in its National League Championship Series with the San Francisco Giants after losing Friday night.

The robber also appears to be more than just a casual fan — his beard may be homage to the multitude of whiskers crowding several Cardinals’ faces (you know, until hockey comes back).

Check out photos of the bearded Cardinals below, and call 866-371-8477 if you have any tips on the crime.
