Robert Kraft Says London Should Have NFL Franchise, Going to England Is ‘Home Game’ for Patriots

London is home to some of the biggest sporting events in the world, but the best may be yet to come for England's capital.

London has hosted the Olympic Games and is the site of Wimbledon, the premier
tournament in tennis. England also has one of the
most popular football leagues in the world (as in soccer), but New England
Patriots owner Robert Kraft says it's time to add one more sport in Great Britain — American football.

Kraft, one of the most respected owners in the NFL, shared his view as his team prepared to take on the
St. Louis Rams at Wembley Stadium.

"You're already hosting the Premier League, and we believe we're the premier sport in the world," Kraft said at an NFL FanFest event at Trafalgar Square. "I think London has shown, with the way they've handled the Olympics and
every other major sporting event, that it's time for you to have your
own NFL franchise, based in London."

The NFL has experimented with overseas franchises before. The league developed NFL Europe, which closed its doors in 2007.

Kraft also had interesting thoughts about who the London crowds would be rooting for.

"These
people out here make us feel that this is a home game
— New England is coming back to England," he said.

He did not mention anything about that revolution that happened back when New England first got its name, and whether that could complicate the rooting interests.
