After years of injury and ineffectiveness in the NBA, Tracy McGrady agreed earlier this month to a contract with the Chinese team Qingdao Eagles.
McGrady had worked out for the Spurs and Knicks, but neither team had room for him. So the former ninth-overall pick decided to head overseas to China, where basketball is not only huge as a sport but McGrady himself also has a huge following already from years of playing alongside Yao Ming in Houston. If fan adulation is what McGrady is looking for, his experience is sure to live up to the hype.
McGrady arrived at Qingdao Liuting International Airport on Wednesday, where he was reportedly met by 2,000 screaming fans. He may as well have been Elvis or The Beatles. Check out the (slightly shaky) scene in the video below.
