Somehow, Andrew Bynum has become the story of the young 2012-13 season without playing a single minute.
First, he was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers in a massive deal that sent Dwight Howard to the Lakers, then he injured himself and reinjured himself bowling and may not play until January, if at all. Oh, and somewhere along there, he got a crazy new hairdo. Now one of Bynum’s former teammates is speaking out about the Sixers’ center’s love for the game.
Spike Eskin of CBS Philly reached out to Tzvi Twersky of SLAM Magazine about Bynum’s bowling-caused injury and he wound up with some juicier information.
“I started investigating [the bowling] a little bit,” Twersky said. “And one of the people that I hit, a guy who has played with him before, he texted me back and said ‘I don’t know if that’s true [the bowling], but I do know that I’ve never met another player in the league who likes basketball less [than Bynum].”
As Twersky continued, that’s not typically the kind of thing that goes over very well in Philadelphia. Bynum is set to make $16 million this season, and if there’s any doubt about his dedication to the game, he may not be welcomed back to Philly with a new contract.
