Bjoern Werner Recovers Fumble That Falls Right Into His Lap in Florida-Florida State Matchup (Animation)

Florida State defensive end Bjoern Werner had himself quite a game against Florida, despite the Seminoles loss.

The junior German-born Seminole sacked Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel three times in the battle for the Florida Cup, and he took part in a game-changing series of events that put Florida State up 17-13.

Driskel was running a read option when signals got crossed with running back Mike Gillislee. Somehow, during what should have been a handoff to Gillislee, the ball popped up in the air and into the waiting arms of Werner.

Werner had read the option perfectly and was awaiting Driskel if he chose to hold onto the ball. Gillislee had nowhere to go, either, and instead of getting stopped for a loss, Werner gladly took it upon himself to catch the fumble and carry it eight yards toward the Gator end zone. Just three plays later, Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel scored from one yard out on a quarterback keeper.
