Brian Cashman Reiterates That Yankees Won’t Trade Alex Rodriguez

Brian Cashman really wants everyone to stop asking him about Alex Rodriguez.

The Yankees general manager reiterated on Wednesday that the Yankees will not be trading Rodriguez, despite any previous rumor of the contrary.

“I’ve already been on record right after the postseason, we’re not trading Alex. So hopefully the Alex stuff stops,” Cashman told reporters at the GM meetings. “I’m reiterating, we’re not trading Alex Rodriguez. I’ve talked to every team in baseball, I have not offered Alex in any trade, and you’ll be able to confirm that with them.”

Cashman also mentioned that the Yankees haven’t been contacted by any teams regarding Rodriguez, despite reports during the postseason that the Marlins could eventually make a play for the 37-year-old.

Rodriguez, of course, was benched during the playoffs for his dismal performance at the dish, which comes after two mediocre seasons for the once-feared slugger. It’s clear Rodriguez’s best days are behind him, but even with five years and over $100 million left on his contract, the Yankees aren’t trading him — or so Cashman says.
