The Indianapolis Colts have made headlines for the support they have shown for coach Chuck Pagano after he was diagnosed with leukemia. In the coming weeks, the team could make more headlines with the help of its mascot and one brave cheerleader.

In yet another display of solidarity with Pagano, a cheerleader named Megan has agreed to let Blue, the team’s mascot, shave her head if they can raise $10,000 between Nov. 12 and 25 for leukemia research. The mascot outlined his challenge to the team’s cheerleaders with a video posted to the squad’s Twitter account.

What makes this such an interesting story is that, unlike the players, cheerleaders’ hair is important to their job and doing it well. Andrew Luck won’t look any different with a shaved head hiding under his helmet, but Megan might during the squads’ numerous dance routines.

Cosmetic issues aside, the cause is a genuine one, and anyone who wishes to contribute can do so on the Colts’ website.
