BOSTON — The spirit of Christmas made an early stop at the TD Garden on Saturday, and it was not pretty.

Prior to the Celtics’ game against the Toronto Raptors, the beloved Dr. Seuss character made a visit to the parquet floor to promote the musical “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” which opens Nov. 23 at the Wang Theater. This Grinch bore only a passing resemblance to the drawing from the books, though, and looked even less like Jim Carrey‘s version from the live-action movie. This Grinch looked like he needed a bath.

Regardless of how he might have looked to anyone over the age of 12, though, the children who got to the game early seemed to enjoy his company. Ultimately, that is all that matters.
