Dressing up like a Roman gladiator is an open invitation to get doused with water.
A few fans found that out the hard way recently when goaltender John Curry of the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears broke out the water bottle following his team’s 4-1 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators.
The fans sat next to the Orlando bench and got in some good old-fashioned heckling while watching their team bring home a victory. After the final buzzer, however, Curry made sure he got the last laugh, spraying the unsuspecting trio with some high quality H2O.
The wet fans seemed to take the whole incident in stride, but the league wasn’t ready to let it go unnoticed. The ECHL has since fined Curry an undisclosed amount, although whatever the price tag, it was likely worth it.
