For Rockets fans, James Harden's outstanding debut with the team on Wednesday was reason for excitement. For many Thunder fans, it was reason to regret the breakup of a potential championship dynasty.

Harden's 37-point, 12-assist, four-steal performance in Houston's victory over the Pistons confirmed what many people have suspected for years — that the Oklahoma City sixth man has been a sleeper star. Now that Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are no longer around to cast a shadow over his exploits, Harden can shine every game as he did on Wednesday.

The strong showing generated the expected reactions from the respective fan bases in Houston and Oklahoma City, but by all indications Harden himself was doing all right.
