Kenjon Barner can book his ticket to New York in December now. He just earned himself a spot among the Heisman Trophy finalists.
Oregon rode on the 195-pound running back's broad shoulders all the way to a 62-51 victory over USC at the Los Angeles Coliseum on Saturday night. Barner ran for a school-record 321 yards while adding five touchdowns on the ground. Barner also had two receptions for 26 yards.
Barner now has 1,295 yards on the season with 19 touchdowns through just nine games. His touchdown runs on Saturday night came from 27 yards, five yards, nine yards, five yards and 22 yards out. Oregon had 730 total yards, and the teams combined for 1,345 yards total.
If defense is your game, this one wasn't pretty. The final score resembled a Big East basketball game more than football. USC's sophomore wide receiver, Marqise Lee, continued to shine. He caught 12 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns from another potential Heisman finalist, quarterback Matt Barkley. Barkley had five touchdowns through the air with 484 yards and two touchdowns.
