NHL Cancels Winter Classic as Labor Negotiations Continue to Stall (Video)

As the NHL lockout drags on, more and more notable dates are being wiped from the hockey calender.

The Winter Classic, which was to be played at the Big House in Michigan between the Red
Wings and Maple Leafs, is the most notable cancellation as a result of
the ongoing labor negotiations.

The lockout has already cost the league and its players millions of dollars, and with the Winter Classic being one of the league's most profitable events, they are going to lose quite a bit more.
