Notre Dame Gets Big Break With Controversial Pass Interference Call in Win Over Pitt (Animation)

You have to wonder what the referees thought they saw when they called pass interference against Pitt cornerback K'Waun Williams early in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's game against Notre Dame.

Williams made a perfect play on an Everett Golson pass to Tyler Eifert on fourth-and-4 — leaping up, playing the ball the whole way and deflecting it. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the officials saw the call differently and flagged Pitt for pass interference.

What may have stung even more for the Panthers is that the call not only kept the Fighting Irish's drive alive but also led to a score on the next play to make it a one-score game at 20-12. Notre Dame went on to win the game in triple overtime 29-26 off a one-yard run by Golson.
