There could be another former member of the Red Sox family rejoining the team this offseason.
On Thursday, the Sox brought Braves assistant hitting coach Scott Fletcher in for an interview, according to ESPN and confirmed by other outlets.
Fletcher was a member of the Red Sox for two years of his lengthy 15-year career. From 1993-94, he batted .269 in 184 total games for the Sox, playing mostly second base where he and John Valentin turned double-plays for Butch Hobson. Spending the majority of his career with the White Sox (six seasons), the infielder posted a career .262 batting average.
The Boston Herald believes the Sox are looking into hiring multiple coaches to fulfill the role, mentioning “Victor Rodriguez and Rick Schu are two other names that have been linked to the coaching vacancy.”
