Johnny Manziel appears to be a fan of Tim Tebow. And Tebow appears to be a fan right back.
Manziel — better known as “Johnny Football” during his rise through the college football world, where he’s put himself in Heisman consideration while leading Texas A&M past Alabama in the season’s biggest upset last week — has a shout-out to Tebow on his Twitter page. Manziel lists Proverbs 3:5-6 and a classic Christian quote, “I don’t know what my future holds, but I do know who holds my future,” on his profile. Manziel attributes the quote to Tebow (which, to be clear, Tebow did not invent).
Now Tebow is giving a nod back.
“He’s a heck of a player. … He’s a competitor. He’s a playmaker. He just finds a way to get things done,” Tebow told Yahoo! Sports. “You have to tip your hat to their coaches and coordinators. They have an awesome scheme and a lot of playmakers.”
While Tebow, who has a Heisman of his own, said he wouldn’t necessarily root for Manziel when A&M takes on his alma mater, Florida, he did admit that the 8-2 Aggies have kept his attention this season.
“There’s just something about him that you think has a chance,” Tebow said. “I like his swag. It’s fun to watch.”
Swag? It’s also fun to hear about.
