Chiefs Advise NFL to Play Panthers Game on Sunday at Originally Scheduled Time

Chiefs Player Shooting FootballThe Chiefs have made the decision to play Sunday’s game against the Panthers at its originally scheduled 1:00 p.m. time slot.

After the tragic news broke of Jovan Belcher‘s murder-suicide in front of the Chiefs’ practice facility, debate raged on over whether the team should still play on Sunday against Carolina. The Panthers flew to Kansas City as scheduled, and now the Chiefs have made the decision for the league. They will play.

Read the Chiefs’ statement below:

“After discussions between the league office, Head Coach Romeo Crennel and Chiefs team captains, the Chiefs advised the NFL that it will play tomorrow’s game vs. the Carolina Panthers at its originally scheduled time.”

The Chiefs go into this weekend 1-10 with the Panthers’ record standing at 3-8.
