David Price wasn’t alone when he got the keys to Tampa for his efforts during the 2012 season.
Price’s dog, Astro, was also given his own smaller set of keys as well. Astro even said a few words, which Price translated as, “Thank you.”
The Rays’ starter won the American League Cy Young Award last season after going 20-5 with a 2.56 ERA in 211 innings. Price had 205 strikeouts with just 59 walks.
Price thanked the city of Tampa via Twitter, saying he never dreamed he would get such an honor. He also posted a picture of he and Astro’s keys.
Thank you Tampa and Mayor Buckhorn for today!! Never even dreamed/thought of anything like it lockerz.com/s/268192114
