DeMarcus Cousins Trade Would Make Sense for Celtics, But Asking Price Likely Starts With Avery Bradley (Podcast)

DeMarcus CousinsThe Celtics might be in need of a big man, but at what price should they consider going after one?

With DeMarcus Cousins ostensibly available due to ongoing issues with the Sacramento Kings, the Celtics would be remiss if they didn’t at least kick the tires and see what the asking price would be for the mercurial center’s talents.

While Cousins has had his problems with the Kings, after all, it is hard to imagine that he would act up in a similar manner around a veteran-laden team led by Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

The problem, though, lies in what the Kings would likely want in return for the former No. 5 pick. It’s hard to imagine that Sacramento would accept anything less than a talented young player in return, and the one most likely to fit that description with Boston would be Avery Bradley.

While Bradley has yet to play for the C’s this season, there’s no denying the talent he showed last year — or the high regard in which Celtics fans hold the 22-year-old. Would it be worth sending away the third-year guard for a roll of the dice on Cousins? Danny Ainge might be facing that very question himself before the season is through.

NESN.com NBA writer Ben Watanabe stopped by the podcast on Thursday to discuss the possibility of dealing for Cousins with NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette. The two also discussed Fab Melo‘s development in the D-League, the Nets’ firing of Avery Johnson and much more.
