Dirk Nowitzki Takes on Worthy Opponent in 1-on-1 Mini Basketball Game at Children’s Hospital (Video)

Will Kolassa did what many NBA players still struggle to do — give Dirk Nowitzki all he could handle.

Kolassa met Nowitzki during the NBA star’s recent visit to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. The two talked some hoops, but their relationship quickly extended beyond small talk, as a pickup game of 1-on-1 mini basketball suddenly broke out.

Nowitzki, who stands at 7 feet, had the clear advantage,  but Kolassa proved that grit and determination can match up with height any day. The youngster gained the upper hand by knocking down a high-arcing 3-pointer to kick off the game. And while Nowitzki showcased some skills of his own, it was clear Kolassa wasn’t playing in his first roundball game.

Kolassa admitted during the duo’s day of fun that his allegiances lie with the Chicago Bulls, but after sharing some laughs and smiles with Nowitzki, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him root for the Mavericks in the Western Conference. You know, mini basketball rivalry aside and everything.

Check out Nowitzki’s awesome visit in the video below, with a hat tip to SportsGrid.
