48 inches might be the longest legal golf club according to the United States Golf Association, but that wasn’t stopping Arlington, Texas-based golf pro Michael Furrh from having some fun.
The USGA is currently trying to ban the lengthy belly putters that have become a common sight on the PGA Tour. So, you’re not likely to see Furrh’s 14-foot, 2.5-inch driver out on the course any time soon. However, upon constructing the monster, Guinness was on hand to verify the event, in which Furrh hit a golf ball 146 yards with the club.
For the record, the head on Furrh’s drive was a regulation 460 cc, and his club, the Caddie Golf Club, is hoping to use awareness and appearances associated with the golf club and record to raise money for charity.
